On Friday, November 16 the Tiltfactor Lab at Hunter College (http://www.tiltfactor.org) will be holding an open house to showcase our latest work and celebrate with those in the city interested in social impact games!! All are welcome to come enjoy refreshments and music, meet the staff, and explore the range of Tiltfactor projects. Student art will also be on display, and board games and video games will be available to play and discuss.

Started in 2005, Tiltfactor is the first game research lab in New York City and the first academic center to focus on social activist games.

The mission of the Tiltfactor lab is to research and develop software and art that creates rewarding, compelling, and socially conscious interactions, with a focus on inventive game design for social change.

The Lab fosters research that results in progressive and educational games, artwork, curricula, social software, academic articles, blog posts, tools, and workshops. Members of Tiltfactor strive to make effective inquiries and interventions that consider how games, and software in general, can evolve to take into account social activist principles. Projects have explored issues such as how to promote cultural diversity and collaborative decision-making through game design, and how to foster the learning of programming among middle school girls. The lab is housed in the Department of Film and Media, Hunter College, home to over 600 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students in our Integrated Media Arts MFA program with a focus on activist media practice.
